Bhopal- The city of lakes, the city of grandeur & splendor , the city of greenery and most importantly the city of Tehzeeb. This city has a particular aroma , the aroma of amalgamation. People from all over India have visited this place and fell in love with its natural charm and many even settled here. As the saying goes ” Once you fall in love with Bhopal, you can never leave Bhopal”.
Being the capital of Madhya Pradesh , Bhopal is an important market. While Indore was always the commercial capital , Bhopal was perceived a laidback city. But that all has changed over the years. The commercial market is up and booming, with real estate & education sector leading the way.

 

But what is lacking?


Bhopal has a robust marketing & advertising options. In print media the city’s leading dailies are Dainik Bhaskar & Patrika, in electronic media there are several channels like Bansal News, Zee Mp CG, in radio there are RedFm, MyFm, Radio Mirchi etc. Even the outdoor media is a favorite option among the marketers. But still the market of Bhopal is struggling to get the message across to their prospective clients. The problem is lack of awareness in the market about Digital Marketing.

The Problem


According to the ” Internet in India Report 2022″ by iamai & Kantar- 9 out of 10 Active Internet Users access internet every day. On an average, they spend nearly 2 hours surfing the internet daily. And those 2 hours a day is not in one shot, it is spread out. If we suppose that the average person accesses the internet for 12 hours a day, it literally means that he/she is online every 10 minutes in an hour. Which is Huge !
Now coming to Bhopal’s digital marketing scenario. most marketers have still not harped onto this Big Fact. An average person will read a newspaper for 10-15 mins a day or will watch Tv for a max 30 mins a day ( even that has gone down with advent of OTT) or will listen to FM while driving or will glance casually at a billboard. But he/she is accessing internet for 2 hours a day. Are the marketers of Bhopal tapping onto that 2 hours? Sadly, NO ! Most still rely on traditional mediums not understanding the fact that the mass has moved from traditional mediums to the digital ones. Traditional mediums also lag behind in CTA ( call to action). For eg- you are browsing through Instagram and you spot a Beige T-Shirt’s advertisement, which you had been searching for so long. You will immediately click that link and may/may not make a purchase but you have made the CTA. Now traditional mediums cannot give this kind of action. And that’s where most marketers in Bhopal are failing to showcase their products/services to the general public.

Our POV


First and foremost is accepting the fact that Digital Marketing is the game changer and it is replacing all other mediums. Digital marketing in Bhopal lacks the cutting edge because most agencies do not have an advertising background. Yes, they may be very good in the technological aspect but do they understand the dynamics of advertising? Sadly , Not many ! Digital is a medium and advertising is the main creative force.
